Heavy rain causes flooding on the Trans Papua Highway, destroying the ongoing construction of the road. The road goes around the highlands of Papua, passed by trucks and heavy transportation daily as construction goes.
Trans Papua Highway is a 2,700 miles road segment across two provinces in Papua i.e. West Papua (Papua Barat) and Papua, from Sorong to the southernmost Merauke. The village of Momugu in Asmat is the southernmost land site before connections throughout Asmat continues by rivers and river channels.
The highway is expected to be finished by 2018.
